Battle in the Burgh started in 2014 and has proven year after year to be a competitive dual event featuring some of the best wrestlers in PA and surrounding states.  These duals saw an incredible 130 teams in 2021!  BITB is back under the original owners and we are proud to return to Western PA...back in the BURGH!

K-4th Grade (+1lb allowance)

Matches: 

K – 4th Grade: 1:00 periods

K – 8th Grade: 1:15 periods

High School: 1:30 periods

Girls K-12th: 1:15 periods

- All divisions will have a 1 minute overtime with a 30 second ride out

- 15 point tech fall

 

FEE: 

$500 K-4

$550 K-8 and High School

$600 Girls K-12

  • $50 off for each additional team

    • (ex. 1st team = $550, 2nd team = $500, 3rd team = $500, 4th team = $500 etc.)

 

  • 2 coaches and 1 table worker entry included with fee

    • Each team MUST provide an adult table worker

    • BTC will hold a brief training for table workers on 8/31

Anyone who wishes to pay the balance with cash or check in person should contact us to make arrangements. 

 

 

ROSTERS:

Rosters with accomplishments should be submitted by Friday, August 23rd at midnight.

    

  • Links to submit rosters will be given to team contact.

  • Teams without accomplishments listed will not get seeded.

  • Changes can be made to rosters on the day of the tournament up until 8:30am.

  • Wrestlers can wrestle on more than one team, but in different divisions.

 

WEIGH-INS:  

Early Weigh-ins (optional):

  • Friday, 8/30 – 2pm to 4pm – Cost is $20 per wrestler

Regular Weigh-ins:

  • Friday, 8/30 – 6pm to 8pm

Saturday morning weigh-ins

  • Saturday, 8/31 - 7am-7:30am​

*ALL WEIGH-INS WILL BE HELD ON SITE AT THE MONROEVILLE CONVENTION CENTER*

 

 

HOTELs:

We are very fortunate to be able to work directly with local hotels and the Monroeville Chamber of Commerce to secure blocks of rooms with amazing rates - especially with short notice of location change!  The previous host hotel that was located within walking distance of the convention center is no longer open.  So look to make your reservations soon!

AWARDS: 

  • Top 4 Placing Teams in each division receive awards

  • Individual awards for Team Champions, Runners-Up and 3rd place Teams

  • Each team receives Outstanding Wrestler award

ADMISSIONS: 

  • $20 Adults

  • $10 Students

  • 5 years old and under - FREE

 

FREE AGENTS:

Anyone interested in being put on the free agent list please email battleintheburghwrestling@gmail.com  with the following information:

  • Wrestler's Name

  • Division

  • Weight Class

  • Parent Name

  • Parent Phone Number

  • Parent Email

  • Any notable accomplishments

The list is emailed to all of the coaches on a regular basis.  The coaches will contact you directly to add you to their team.

BRACKETS

The tournament will be run on FloArena

RULES:​​
  • New High School rules will be in effect for all divisions (3 point takedowns, back points, etc)
  • Headgear optional
  • College Out of Bounds

  • Singlet not required at weigh-ins

  • Modified scholastic rules used for all divisions

  • All officials’ decisions are final

  • No video reviews

  • Any disrespectful conduct towards wrestlers, adults, staff, or officials will not be tolerated and can result in removal from the tournament

 

NO REFUNDS WITHIN 48 HOURS OF TOURNAMENT

Challenges:
- Anyone wishing to challenge the age or experience level of a wrestler must present physical proof prior to or during the tournament.
- Any wrestler found wrestling in a division that they are not eligible for, by age or experience level, will be removed from the tournament.
- Final decision is left to the discretion of the Tournament Director.
